Almeida Opera is London's annual season of the new, experimental and international in opera and music theatre. As the only company run in tandem with a full time producing theatre (Almeida Theatre), Almeida Opera is unique in its ability to bring together writers, composers and directors in a centre of excellence for music and theatre. The 2002 season premiered work by Jonathan Dove; Edward Rushton; Giorgio Battistelli, whose production of The Embalmer toured nationally in November and Elena Langer, the new Jerwood Composer in Assocation for the Almeida.
Almeida Opera is currently working with the Genesis Foundation to deliver the Genesis Opera Project (formerly Genesis Prizes for Opera).
