The company was founded in 1997 to develop and perform contemporary opera and music theatre in the UK and on tour.  Projects have included world premières of new commissions, rarely seen chamber operas by well known composers and work by leading figures of the British musical tradition.  The company also undertakes educational work including residencies, courses and composition workshops for young people.
