EPOC was founded in 1993. For over a decade, EPOC has been touring productions and performing concerts across Britain and abroad.
At the heart of the company's work is a deep belief in the educational benefit of a lifelong exposure to opera: making music, singing songs, giving voice to the drama and poetry of life. In 2002 a programme of education work was started to create unique and accessible music and opera education experiences for young people and teachers alike.
English Pocket Opera Company (EPOC) and Children's Music Workshop (CMW) have come together to form Music Platform, a registered charity deeply rooted in education working with children and young people in primary and secondary schools across London and the UK.
Opera Education Project
A varied range of singing, acting, film, composition and design workshops in schools prepare participants to either exhibit or perform their work alongside professional soloists and orchestra in EPOC opera productions at one of London's prestigious theatres. This project offers children an exceptional opportunity to engage directly with opera and all the proven benefits that learning through the expressive arts brings. Suitable for Key Stages 1 to 4.
